ZIVAWORKS
New brand, new website, and new tiles added to the collection. Cast Pewter, Dichroic glass and other materials form this unique tile collection. Formerly branded as PLANET DIVA, INC. (1997-2006), ZivaWorks will launch several new product lines during 2008.
ZIVOGRAPHY
This group is created using Deborah's images as dye sublimation on to tile and can be used for interior horizontal or vertical surfaces in formats of 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, 12x12.
ZIVACRETE
This collection is scheduled to preview sometime in 2008. Our new concrete has been tested and rated for durability. The colors we have chosen are very unique to the material. The collection is designed for both horizontal and vertical surfaces. Zivacrete is a designer's collection allowing you to create a custom project from our tile.
ZIVAMETALS
New metal tiles will be added to the collection through-out the entire year.
ZIVATURE
In 2008, ZivaWorks will be launching the ZIVAS, 21st Century Avatars. The line, called Zivature, features branded products, including tee shirts and "foot-print bags". This collection takes Deborah back to her roots in tee shirt design (Deborah Wiley California 1989-1995). It is a collaboration with jewelry designer, Rosemary Sinclair, whose designs have been sold to major retailers and catalogues throughout the United States.
HISTORY
Deborah Wiley
Ten years ago I emerged from the fashion industry (Deborah Wiley California, Imagist International. Inc.), trying to decide what to do next. I took a year off to contemplate and regroup. I asked a friend who owned a concrete factory in Mexico if it would be possible to set little stamped metal pieces into concrete tile; he invited me to visit his facility and try it out. I drove to Tecate, Mexico, about 25 miles from San Diego and spent a delightfully creative day. The result was unique and exciting, I knew this was my next business. I also realized that I knew absolutely nothing about the tile industry. This original tile company, named Planet Diva, was launched at the New York Gift show in August of 1997. Soon after, I took Planet Diva into the tile market with the help of, among others, Graham White of Hastings Tile and Il Bagno in New York. We enlarged our distribution network and the tile collection grew into four categories with lots of different styles and techniques. Planet Diva was one of the first designer lines to bring metal coated resin tile, metal embedded concrete tile, cast pewter tile and dichroic glass tile into the marketplace. Graham developed the concept of casting tile in pewter and together we designed the cast metal collection you see here today. In 2006, we re-branded our tile line with a fresh image and positioned the new company to focus on product design. For many years I have worked with photography and found object sculpture. The Zivas (COMING SOON) are the result of the merger of these disciplines in a digital format. Ziva means "bright and radiant" in Hebrew and I have morphed the adjective into a noun; I see the Zivas as bright and radiant female avatars for our new world. Each Ziva follows her own mission or directive.
